FAQ

Can I access my downloader remotely when I am away from home?
Yes, as long as your server is reachable. BitRemote connects to the address you give it, so it works on your home network out of the box. To reach it from elsewhere, use the remote access you already have, such as a VPN, Tailscale, a reverse proxy, or port forwarding with dynamic DNS.
Does BitRemote download or search for content?
No. BitRemote is a remote control for a downloader you already run, so it manages tasks without downloading or searching for content itself. The files stay on your NAS, seedbox, or server.
Can I sync my saved servers across my devices?
Syncing your saved servers across iPhone, iPad, and Mac through iCloud is in development for the upcoming v2.0 update. For now, you set up your servers on each device.
Is my data safe?
Your downloader credentials are never uploaded to our servers, so we cannot see them. They stay on your device and are only sent to the downloader you connect to. In the current version they are stored on-device without extra encryption, so on a jailbroken device they could be exposed. The upcoming v2.0 update moves credentials into the system Keychain, adds encrypted backups, and keeps them end-to-end encrypted when you turn on iCloud sync, with a recovery code only you hold.
